These awards reward excellence and highlight the very best that the legal profession has to offer. Anna Theodorides, Principal of AMV Law, was named Highly Commended Legal Business Woman of the Year 2013 in a category which recognises exceptional Solicitors who have made outstanding contributions through the insight, flair, imagination, hard work or dedication they have applied to their client work.

This is not only a great achievement for Anna, but also for the whole team who have adopted her ethos and continue to fight hard for their clients to ensure they get the best results.

AMV Law, founded by successful business woman Anna Theodorides, has recently triumphed in the Equality and Diversity category in the prestigious 2012 Law Society Excellence Awards. The Awards recognise exceptional achievement within the legal profession.

Nominations were received from many local, national and multinational firms, and an independent panel of judges had the task of sifting through entries. In this category, the judges were looking for innovative and successful examples of best practice in equality and diversity. They sought examples of clear benefits to organisations, employees and clients, from embracing equality and diversity policies and practices in the widest sense, to recruiting and retaining the most talented and motivated lawyers.

In a category that included international and long-established firms such as Eversheds LLP and Hogan Lovells, AMV Law was recognised for the diversity of its staff and the opportunities it offers to its employees through flexible working. The firm was also acknowledged for its commitment to local initiatives and organisations dedicated to helping underprivileged youths in the wake of the horrors that emerged during last summer’s riots.

AMV Law is based in New Barnet and specialises in Personal Injury cases, from minor whiplash injuries to serious brain injuries. The firm was founded by Anna in 2004 and from a very small start from a shed in her back garden, the firm has consistently grown year after year. In addition to this, more than 65% of the firm’s staff are female, which includes 2 of the 3 associates; 50% of the team are from ethnic minorities; and, 42% work on a part-time basis to fit around their family commitments. Between all the members of staff, 8 different languages are spoken and understood. The firm also supports disabled members of staff; one of which being an Associate of the firm. As well as being able to offer a more personal service tailored to the client’s needs, our firm’s flexible and diverse culture results in highly motivated staff who are willing to go the extra mile.

Anna said: “We are extremely proud to have been recognised by the Law Society in such a way. Just being shortlisted in this category alongside such highly commended firms is a great achievement but winning it feels absolutely amazing. This is a testament to the hard work and creativity of my team and I am very proud of them.”

The announcement of the success took place at the black tie awards ceremony held on Thursday 18th October 2012 at Old Billingsgate.
